Description:
28" SxS fluid steel, dovetail-lump barrels with ramp front sight, smooth swamped rib, raised matted quarter rib with 1 standing and 4 folding platinum-lined express sights engraved for 1, 2, 3, 4 & 500 yards. Figured European walnut stocks with lever-release splinter forend, steel capped pistol grip, classic point-pattern checkering, beaded pancake cheekpiece, vacant silver initial oval, and striated horn buttplate. Toplever, back-action sidelock with double underbites, gold-line cocking indicators, bushed firing pins with retaining setscrews, extractors, bolted automatic top tang safety with SAFE inlaid in gold, and extended tangs both the top reaching over the comb and the bottom to the pistol grip cap. Pull: 14 3/4" Weight: 9lbs 1 1/2oz. Built 1897 for Mr. Longworth Buchanan. Retaining 98% barrel blue, 30% casehardening colors, tight on the face and with good bores. In leather trunk case with brass corners and maker's trade label, cleaning equipment, spare strikers in ebony bottle, bushing key and glass oil bottle. Proofed for 38 grains Rifelite. With Holland & Holland paperwork and target showing 1 1/8" group at 50 yards with specified load.
