Description:
For sale is my ancestors' 1873 Winchester 32-20 rifle. It was manufactured in 1904 and has a 24 inch round barrel.
This rifle has been in my family for over one hundred years.I have pictures of my aunt and my father with this gun in the early 1930s ( picture15).It is in perfect working condition and functions smoothly and safely. All parts are original and intact with the exception of the front sight, which my father replaced in the 1950s.
It has its original wood stock and forearm which have not been refinished. The bore is bright with good grooves and some mid pitting.I would rate the bore condition a 7 out of 10 ( picture11).I last fired the rifle about 40 years ago and after cleaning it, greased the bore and returned it to my gun cabinet .I recently removed the grease and cleaned it for the pictures.
At some point,in the past,it looks like this rifle was cold blued,as evidence by the barrel, while other places appear to have their original patina. The stock has a small dent /ding on the top(see picture 12).In addition at some time the rear sight broke and was braised, however just the sight was repaired and the barrel was not affected.( picture 13).
If you look very closely the forearm has three small notches below the patent dates( picture 14).When I was a boy my grandmother told me she made these for each wolf she shot when she and my grandfather were homesteaders in Canada in the early 1900s.
Although this rifle has been in my family for all these years,I am now forced to part with it since my heirs don't hunt and are not interested in guns and their proper care. I am therefore putting it up for sale in hopes of finding a good home with someone who will  enjoy it,take care of it and pass it on to future generations for the next hundred years.
I will only ship UPS ground to locations in the lower 48 states and I will need a copy of the FFL and address of the dealer to whom the rifle is to be shipped.
I will only charge for the exact UPS shipping and insurance and will not charge extra for packing materials Etc.
This rifle comes with a non-firing 3 day return policy, starting the day UPS delivers it to your dealer. In the event of return the buyer pays return shipping and insurance.
Please contact me with any questions or if you need additional photos. Thanks for looking.
