Description:
This is a late war, rare, short barrel rifle. It has all the dings that the United States Marine Corps could give it but it is finished over the worst of these so that its history is intact even though it is smoothed and slightly "gentrified". Most metal, excuding the barrel and receiver, are nickle plated. The barrel and reciever are blued. The mum is gone and so are the markings on the top of the receiver. The side markings are intact and show that it was made in the Toyo Kogo Arsenal in series 35, rather late in the war. It has the wood butt plate, the single rear peep sight and the forend that show its heritage.. Before you fire it I suggest that you use a head gauge. I have not fired it. This is a really nice rifle given its pedigree. It pops right up to your shoulder and the sights are lined up. I have come to rather like Arisaka because it turns out that the action is the strongest produced in WWII. And that includes the Mauser and the Springfield. I hope it shoots well. It'll be a lot of fun as well as a nice wall display and a piece of our history.
