Description:
Serial #8240, 7mm Mauser, 29" barrel with a very good bore that has mild freckling within the grooves. This is one of the last batch of 1,000 “OVS" marked rifles that were intercepted and turned back by the British in 1899. They were subsequently returned to DWM and used to fill a Chilean contract where the Chilean crest was added to the receiver. This example is very nice, and retains 95-97% of the original blue, with some silvering along the high edges and at the muzzle. The bolt latch retains about 40-50% of the original bright fire blue, and the non-matching bolt has an armory bright finish with some mild freckling on the handle. The non-matching, but correct, stock has numerous minor handling marks, but is otherwise in very good shape with most of the original finish remaining. The rifle is accompanied by the original numbered cleaning rod, and is a fine-near excellent example of an OVS / Chilean Mauser; a great example for any collection. FFL or C&R
