Description:
This is a nice example of a first year production Ruger Super Blackhawk manufactured in 1974.  This Ruger Super Blackhawk would make an excellent addition to any gun collection that is actually shot and carried afield, as the original factory blue on this gun is very attractive overall but shows some prior rust spots from being in long-term storage in a humid room.  The gun itself is in excellent condition mechanically and has an excellent bore, it likely has not been fired more than a 100 times since it was new 45 years ago.  This single-action Super Blackhawk is chambered for the .44 Remington Magnum cartridge and features a 7.5" inch barrel, adjustable iron sights, a drilled and tapped topstrap for optics, and period customized "Mustang" brand checkered Walnut grips.  The action on this Ruger is perfectly "in time", and is smooth and precise whether worked fast or slow.  The rear sight adjustments are in perfect working order and the trigger is excellent, breaking with a light pull with no slop or grit.  We have no doubt that this Ruger would shoot just as accurately and reliably today as the day it left the factory.  Being chambered for .44 Magnum, it has the stopping power to tackle any big game in North America and if mounted with optics could be used confidently out to 100 yards or more.  If you have been looking for an affordable but well-made, reliable, and accurate magnum revolver to carry afield or to the range, this 1974 vintage Super Blackhawk would be an excellent choice.
