The Model 1911 Colt Commemorative, WWI Series The Battle of Belleau Wood, was made in 1968. There were 7,500 made (serial number range: 1BW to 7500BW). The 1911 pistols were standard Government Models with roll engraving on the slide and unique wood grips inlayed with medallions and a plague on the left grip. This Standard Model 1911 (serial number: 281BW) is in as new/unfired condition, retaining 99%+ of its original blue finish, with a new condition bore and perfectly functioning action. The left grip looks like new, the right has a minor ding below the lower screw, most likely done from the way it is mounted in its presentation case. There is some light corrosion on the sides of the hammer. Pistol comes with its original wood presentation case only, no paper-work or shipping box. The presentation case is in very fine condition, with a some surface scuffs on the clear plastic top, and a few minor handling marks/staining on the wood/paint. Curio & Relic.
