Description:
This is an absolutely beautiful 1971 vintage factory engraved Navy Arms reproduction of the Colt 1851 Navy revovler with a Tiffany-style grip, complete with a fitted Walnut case and all of the accessories.  This Navy Arms .36 caliber cap and ball revolver is really spectacular with expert hand-cut engraving and gold-fill all over the gun and a supremely detailed and beautiful silver plated Tiffany-style grip.  This was the top-of-the-line model in 1971 for the Navy Arms 1851 Navy revolver, very low production and expensive due to the engraving.  The fit and finish and quality of materials used in the construction of this revolver are second to none.  This revolver was bought new in 1971 or '72 and put up into storage, never once fired or carried.  With the exception of a little gold-fill missing in places from being oiled over the years, this gun is exactly how it left the factory 49 years ago "like-new".  As you can see from the pictures provided, the engraving is as good as you will see anywhere, much better than any we have seen previously on an Italian-made Colt reproduction.  The new Italian-made replicas do not even belong in the same category as this 1971 example.  The blue finish on this revolver rates 99%, and the bore and chambers in the cylinder are pristine.  Outside of a little tarnish, the silver plating on the triggerguard and grip rates 99% as well.  The action on this gun is perfectly "in time" and it locks up tight with no wiggle.  All of the controls on this 1851 Navy are in perfect working order, and the hammer still has both the half-cock and full-cock notches intact.  This Navy Arms revolver functions 100% like the day it left the factory.  The Walnut fitted case is beautiful and the green felt lining really sets the gun off when on display.  The original accoutrements are still in place in the case and in excellent condition overall, just like the revolver itself.  If you have been looking for a new "showpiece" to add to your arms collection this 1971 factory engraved Navy Arms 1851 Colt Navy reproduction would be a superb choice.  This is the first of these we have seen and it is even more impressive in person than in the pictures.  This should be an excellent long-term investment and would be perfect for display in your home.  As a black powder weapon this cased Navy Arms revolver can be shipped directly to your door, no FFL required.
