This is a BSA Lee-Speed, Cordite-proofed sporting rifle that has nearly all of an overall reapplied blue finish remaining on the metal. Some very minor silvering is present at the muzzle, and on the exposed edges and projections, with further silvering and gray fading present on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. The original front sight has a folding sheet metal hood, the rear sight has two folding leaves with a folding long range ladder, and a sliding tang safety is fitted. The checkered walnut forend and checkered pistol grip buttstock have minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the original oil finish, and there is some mild flattening of the points throughout. The rifle is outfitted with sling eyelets, and the original five round magazine is included. Army & Navy CSL records state that this rifle was sold on March 2, 1906 to a “Russell, Le. R. E." This is a great looking Lee sporting rifle, and would make a neat addition to a collection.
