Description:
This is one of the rarer models with all the bells and whistles added up grades. The scabbard is in above good conditionwithe the leather being in above good condition, thecollar and tip have been up graded with a gold wash. The blade has been doubled etched,with designs of swords , shield, flags,pikes,crossed cannons, all with a floral design running nearly the lenght of the blade on both sides. This model 1871 has a strip giving the NIEDERRHEIN.FUSILIERS, REG. NO. 39 high lighted with a black back ground to set it off. The blade is factory perfect , with the W.K.& C. KNIGHTS HEAD LOGO AND KINGS HEAD LOGO. You can see the tinest bit of red scabbard buffer,felt. , a tiny bit of platin on the hand guard both side , gone effects nothing. This regiment was formed in 1818, fought in the Austro- PRUSSIAN WAR, and in the franco -prussian war of 1870-71 where this may have was sevice, this regiment fought at the Battle of GRAVEL-ST.PRIVAT . The ARCHDUCK RAINER FEDINAND OF AUSTRIA , A GRAND SON OF EMPEROR LEOPARD 11 , AUSTRIAN GENERAL AND PRIME MINISTER COLONEL IN CHIF WAS IN CHARGE OF THIS REGIMENT. In WW1 this regiment saw service and was garrisoned in Dusseldorf, as part of the 7th army corp. During the first world war they served on the SIEGE OF LIEGE, ANF THE BATTLEOF VERDUN AND THE SPRING OFFENSIVE. The bayonet/sword which is over 2 feet long, is in amzing shape for being 139, years old, this one stands out, this was carried by a FUSILIER,WHO WAS A CUT ABOVE. 859-533-5445
