Description:
Serial #58658, .450 CF, 4 1/2" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has minor pitting about halfway down its length. This is a very nice, lightly engraved revolver, marked “ARMY & NAVY CSL LONDON" along the top of the barrel. The metal retains 90-92% of the original bright, nickel finish with scattered areas of dark freckling, mostly along the sides of the frame, and along the edges of the trigger guard bow. The frame has the usual Tranter “football" marking on the right side, and bright fire blue still remaining on the cylinder pin latch and some of the screw heads. The finely checkered walnut grip has small handling marks and blemishes scattered about, with some flattening of the points. The action lock-up is still tight, and the mechanism is fully functional. The revolver is housed in a fine period case with dark green baize lining, no label, and period cleaning rod. This is an exceptionally handsome, Army & Navy Cooperative Society Ltd. retailed Tranter, and is in fine-excellent condition overall. Antique
