Description:
This 1849 Colt Pocket Revolver, produced in 1859 was the property of Lt. James C. Justus of the 31st Pa. Infantry during the Civil War. It has a 5" barrel and has the desirable Hartford barrel address. Five shot.  The revolver is in fine original condition. All matching numbers including wedge. The loading lever doesn't have a number, never did. If its a replacement , it was done during period of use as the patina matches perfectly.  Mechanically perfect. Rifling is good, but it's been shot. No original blue remains. Grips have 96% original varnish remaining. Brass has good amount of original silver, but fading. Beautiful inscription to Lt. Justus. The 31st was also known as the 2nd Pa. Reserves. Alot of battle history in the Army of the Potomac. At Gettysburg, Lt. Justus was acting Qmaster. He was taken prisoner at Jericho Ford Va. on 24 May 1864. A great Colt revolver with Gettysburg history!! Please call 973-214-3407
