Description:
Antique Sharps & Hankins Model 1862 Navy Carbine, chambered in .52 RF caliber. The 24" round barrel with the original leather cover; leather is mostly complete with some losses near the bottom of the frame, otherwise showing moderate cracking and signs of age and wear. Metal with an overall brown patina, maker's marks on the frame are visible and defined. Straight grip walnut stock with brass buttplate, stock with normal indentations from age and military use, no chips or cracks, fits very well at the adjoining metal surfaces. Screw head slots are straight and only a few show minor wear. Action operates smoothly, there is a very small hariline crack on the left side of the metal bar that links the lever to the barrel. Bore with scattered small spots of surface erosion, rifling is defined. Condition overall is very good.
