Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are rightfully proud to offer this stunning Colt Sheriff's model decked out in nickel plate and engraved by master engraver Mel Wood. He engraved many high grade knives back in the last century, and luckily, he engraved a few guns, as well. His work is highly sought after, and very distinctive. Mel liked to use black contrast, and had what I call "loose ends" among the flowing scrollwork. He signed his work with a simple "MEL". Made in the year of our Lord 1985, she is in wonderful condition. The nickel is nigh 100%, with light handling marks and a small blemish on the loading gate. The nicely fitted one piece walnut grips are also very good. The bore of the 3 inch barrel is great, as are the stampings. The engraving is captivating, and you won't have to squint to see it. The icing on the cake is that this Sheriff is built on a black powder frame. It features the early 3 line patent date, and even has a dimpled base pin. Chambered in Colt's own .45, this wheel gun rises head and shoulders above the others. If you have been looking for the right Colt Sheriff's Model to collect or for investment, but want one with the added clout of a master engraved masterpiece built on a black powder frame, then look no further.
