Colt 1855 Sidehammer MFG 1855 SA .28 Percussion, 3 1/2" octagonal bbl, "V" notch rear sight, pin front sight, barrel and cylinder are taking on a nice brown-grey patina, much of the bluing on the frame remains, stamped on the top of the barrel is a Maltese cross - "COLT'S PT. - 1855" - Maltese cross - "ADDRESS COL. COLT - HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." - Maltese cross, the pointing hand motif nearer the muzzle, cylinder is engraved, serial numbers match on frame butt - cylinder, and smooth one-piece hardwood grip. Commonly refered to as the "Root Revolver" named for its designers Elisha K. Root with Samuel Colt.
