The Model 54 is a bolt-action rifle manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and chambered in the .220 Swift cartridge. The Model 54 was the first successful production run civilian centerfire bolt action for Winchester. After three years of designing, was first produced in 1925 with production taking place for only eleven years, before production ended in 1936. During this short span, approximately 50,000 rifles were manufactured in ten catalogued calipers: .22 Hornet, .220 Swift, .250 Savage, .257 Roberts, .270 Winchester, .30-30 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, and three metric calibers 7X57mm, 7.65X53mm, and 9X57mm. This example is in great condition. Still retaining most of the bluing on the receiver and barrel with the only visible wear on the butt plate and magazine bottom. The stock is a fine factory American walnut, which has received a repair at some point in its lifetime on the butt stsock. Overall the bore is bright with strong rifling and this rifle mechanically functions perfectly. This rifle is equiped with a factory front sight with hood and a Lyman adjustible rear aperture sight. If your in the market for a classic American hunting rifle, this Winchester Model 54 in .220 Swift would be an excellent choice.
