Description:
This is a chapparal with a new uberti barrel. It had a 26" barrel on it and I bought it couple or three years ago, made 45-60 dies out of 45-70, cut down 45-70 brass to 1.89 inch and made 45-60, cast lots of 300-340 grain bullets and happily shot hundreds of them. Was pleased at how well it worked after I had read all the bad things about chapparal but this one worked fine.
last year, after my first time at Quigley and realizing that about only shooting I was going to do was with the Shiloh I had, I decided to sell chapparal because it was just sitting in my safe, I don't hunt, and I had put the long range tang sight and front globe on it. ( front is Lyman 17A, rear is Pedersoli vernier) and had entertained idea of using it at Quigley but about 400 yards was all I ever tried.
so, I decided to tear it down and clean it good. That's when I got pretty good shock. Barrel was bulged just about under the rear dovetail. Needless to say, I wasn't going to shoot it and no way could I sell it, so, I called and was told uberti barrel would fit, which it does.
so it's a chapparal with a brand new uberti barrel in 45-60. I ordered all parts and everything came except the 28" magazine tube, which is out of stock. Update: proper magazine tube is on rifle courteousy of Cimmaron Arms parts dept.
Dies and about 100 brass cases go with it as well as new magazine spring and tube plug( both for uberti and brand new)
barrel and parts just cost me about $450 and with what I paid, I'm going to take a beating but, stuff happens
I'll send original barrel if you want it( putting picture of bulge in ) and I know I didn't cause it and everytime I ran a patch down barrel I could feel it but I also know it's not uncommon to have a slight difference around the dove tail so I didn't really check it. My bad.
you can hardly see bulge from top, but once I took that forearm off, BAM!  Glad I didn't lose a hand, or worse but I never load anywhere near max. Whoever owned it before me evidently didn't have good screwdrivers couple of buggered screws. Not bad.
$900 I pay for shipping.  $850 you pay.
