About 7,000 of these revolvers were produced by Moore's Patent Firearms Co. in Brooklyn from 1863 until 1865 these were the first commercial revolvers in the US that used swing-out cylinder mechanism. However, they had to turn all of revolvers over to Smith & Wesson after S&W won a patent infringement lawsuit against Moore's. Afterwards, S&W sold them on the open market. These revolvers were very popular with New Yorkers who were heading off to the Civil War. Have seen just a few in this kind of condition in last 10 year for sale due to limited production and heavy use during and after the Cuvil war. One like that ( maybe couple % better) brought $4500 on Julia around 6 years ago. 3-4 months Layaway is fine.
