Rare and beautiful. This Mountain Carbine is in super condition. The gun retains about 90-95% of the early dark high polish factory blue. The receiver is stamped DOT 1940. There are no rust patches, scratches or pinpricks any where. The little loss there is, is from some sharp edge silvering. The receiver is marked DOT/ 1940/Eagle/53. The bolt has been renumbered to match the receiver, however it is the totally correct hollowed out G 33/40 type.
The laminated wood stock which is also numbered 1695 and is in excellent condition, retaining 98+% of the original factory lacquer. The bolt handle recess does have a few small chips missing and one or two little dings. The butt plate and stock shield are in the white and surprisingly show little surface discoloration. The bore is really quite nice, smooth with well defined rifling and some light frost. It comes with one 33/40 ramrod and the proper narrow G 33/40 sight cover. For the collector who can't afford to mortgage the farm for a beautiful G 33/40 this is a great find and should be real fun on the range..... Shipped.... $1995.****
