Description:
This Winchester was produced in 1887. It is a standard round 26 inch barrel rifle. The serial number for this Winchester is 13568. It is chambered for the 45-90 W.C.F. cartridge. This rifle's bore is very good with no pitting or being shot out. The sights are original as issued standard sights. The receiver is mostly silvery with traces of color cased finish. The barrel and magazine tube retain most of it's original bluing. The bolt also retains almost all of it's bluing. The action works smoothly and feeds the cartridges with no issues. The right side of the stock has the initials { E A S '87 } artistically carved on the stock. There is no loss or cracks to the stock or forend. The magazine and barrel would rate a 96% soft blue. The receiver would rate a 96% silvery finish with traces of color case finish. The stock and forend retain most of the original varnish. This is a very nice condition honest wear Winchester that has not been abused or mistreated. This rifle was purchased from a cattle ranch in Trinidad Colorado many years ago. I purchased it directly from the Cowboy who had this rifle in a rifle boot. It was still loaded with 45-90 reloaded shells. This is the kind of Winchesters that collectors strive to find for their collections. Being a 45-90 W. C. F. also adds to the luster of this very early rifle.
