Whitney Kennedy rifle , 38/40 caliber , 24" octagon barrel ,has the loop lever, cresent trap door butt plate , a darker toned rifle both wood and metal. some vintage rifle's appear this way , possibly from being over oiled or storage , possibly from the blueing or browning finish that was done 136 years ago. rifle is in original condition as far as I can tell , the lever latch screw is missing , was when I aquired the rifle some years past in northern Wisconsin. I've been told a good number were up in this area , I believe I've gotten three over the years from up here. Maybe a choice for a deer rifle years past. This one I've shot, the cartridges cycle just fine and it's still fairly accurate with cowboy loads . She's tight , no slop in the lever. I'm just overloaded and decided to thin the herd. Serial number O657 dates it to 1884-1885 as time of Mfg. She's an antique so can ship to your door .You can have three days to look her over but please no firing or dismantling and the insured return would be your expense. I figure $45.00 to ship and insure in the lower 48.
