Description: The Luftwaffe Honor Goblet was awarded on January 28, 1943, to Unteroffizier Gerhard Hubner, who flew an ME-109 as a fighter pilot with JG 52. Hubner, who in 1942 had also been awarded the German Cross in Gold, was reported missing in action in March of 1943, and was ultimately declared killed in action. The Honor Goblet has an overall height of approximately 8 inches, with a base diameter of 3 7/8 inches. The interior of the base is marked “Feinsilber Alpaka Auflage” and it is also maker marked by the firm of “Joh. Wagner & Sohn”. The goblet is without dents and displays a dark, uncleaned, patina. The goblet is accompanied by a “Guaranty of Authenticity” which bears photographs of the goblet, a description of it, and which is signed by noted militaria dealer Detlev Niemann. SOLD |
