Description:
1892 .38-40 ROUND BARREL RIFLE, #397XXX, MADE 1907. This is a really nice, “attic condition” example with good visual appeal. To begin, the screws are excellent, appear unturned and are still clogged with old grease! The receiver blue has mainly aged and worn to an uncleaned gray/brown with some dull blue in the protected areas. Similarly, the barrel blue has aged to thin plum/brown with some good blue around the rear sight and on the underneath part above the mag tube. The magazine tube retains nice blue that is dulling only a little from age. Original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact mated with the original Winchester blade front sight. All markings are sharp and clear. The stock and forend show light handling only and retain a most attractive Winchester reddish/brown walnut color with very tight wood to metal fit. Tight action and fine+ bore is mainly bright showing only light wear and some very minor surface roughness toward the middle of the bore. This uncleaned 1892 came out of Arizona.
