Description:
Clark Custom .45 cal. Heavy Long Slide with 6" Douglas Stainless Steel barrel and Bo-Mar sight with full length Bo-Mar Rib. This semi-auto pistol was originally a Colt Blued New Commercial .45 until customized by James Clark and Company in Shreveport, Louisiana. Two Colt .45 sldes were used to make this pistol. The original slide was cut off and one inch from another Colt slide was welded onto the original slide making it 6 inches long. James Clark was famous gunsmith and had been a National 3 gun Civilian Pistol Champion. He served as Marine Sniper during World War II. The pistol originally came with 10 shot machine rest targets of 2 1/2 inches or better at 50 yards with both factory and reloads. It was built in 1970 or 1971. I bought it from Clark brand new in 1971. It is 49 or 50 years old. I have lost or misplaced the original targets over that time period. It has an excellent custom trigger and stippling on the front of the grip. The 6 inch Douglas Stainless Steel barrel was the best there was at that time. Clark Custom Guns is still in Business but James Clark, Senior passed away in the early 2000's and his son James Clark, Jr. recently passed away. They have not used 100% Colt parts in their custom .45's in many years. This pistol is 100% Colt parts and as the old saying goes" they don't make them like this anymore". This has been my favorite pistol for many years and has had very little use and as tight as it was when new! I have extra grips to go along with this pistol as well.
