London Proofed Antique Remington Vest Pocket Saw Handle Derringer, .41 RF cal., 4” round-to-octagonal barrel with brass post front and groove rear sights; marked on top flat "REMINGTON'S ILION, N.Y. / PATD OCT. 1, 1861 NOV. 15, 1864; left flat with "(crown)/CP" and "(crown)/V" proof marks; split-breech receiver with integral grip straps; 2-pc. varnished walnut grips. Mfg’d. c. 1865-88.
Condition is good. Metal retains no original finish but for fire-blue on split breech and hammer, and is otherwise mostly smooth gunmetal gray with some very minor pitting and small indentations; grips are sound with what appears to be added varnish finish. Action is smooth; bore is dark with spots of erosion but good rifling.
