Description:
General Specs: Fox, Year 1923, 12 Gauge, 7 lbs 3oz, Chokes F/F
Serial Number: 29779

It is amazing how scarce nice Fox AE guns are becoming.  Twelve-gauge guns are certainly more available than 16's or 20's, but finding a good one is the trick.  What makes a "good one"?  Most prefer Philly guns (though Savage made many just to the same standards!), all original factory parts, perfect screws, and of course, she must look good!  For most that enjoy upland hunting, the preference is something that is light, quick to the shoulder, easy to carry all day over hill and dale, but can still handle heavy loads should the need arise.  The vintage sporting clays shooters like a little weight to their guns to help absorb the recoil that comes with shooting hundreds of times in a day’s shoot.  Here we have the right gun, serial number 29779 made in 1923 in Philadelphia, weighing in at 7lbs. 3oz.. and balanced nicely between the hands.  This A.H. Fox AE 12ga. is a gorgeous example with 65% vivid factory case color, perfect screws and mechanics, hard to find 28” number 4 weight barrels choked F/F (we can make the chokes any way you want them within a few days of purchase) with 100% beautiful rust blue, 2 ¾” chambers, and excellent bores.  The ejectors are strong and well timed, triggers are crisp, and the engraving is sharp and clear.  The stock is very nicely figured European walnut with a nice long LOP, no cracks, and sharp, clean checkering.  This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, meaning we stripped the action and forend iron to their smallest parts, ran them through our Ultrasonic cleaner to remove all films and grunge, inspected each part for integrity and function, lubricated properly and reassembled the gun ready for decades of use.  There is a 90-day mechanical warranty that comes with VFI CERTIFIED.  Who else does that, right?  The ribs are tight, and the barrels are tight on the breech face and hinge pin like a new gun with the lever way to the right of center.  This gun is ready for use this upcoming gunning season, which is just a few months away for most.  A very attractive gun with plenty of condition, it will serve you well in the field or at the shooting club.  And, like most other vintage American double guns, the value will continue to rise as many more are bought and put in safes nation-wide.  Thanks for looking!
