Description:
This is a spectacular original Smith & Wesson .32 Hand Ejector Model of 1903 manufactured sometime between 1915 and 1917.  This little revolver is in exceptional condition and has obviously spent the vast majority of it's life in a sock drawer or storage of some kind.  The I-frame Smith & Wesson .32 Hand Ejector was first introduced in 1896 and was the firm's very first swing-out cylinder revolver.  The .32 Hand Ejector went thru multiple engineering changes and improvements during it's production run, with collectors recognizing 3 "models" and 5 "changes" up until 1942.  This particular example is a 2nd Model or Model of 1903, 5th Change, produced between 1910 and 1917 with a serial range of 102501 to 263000.  The serial number of this example is 228520, making it's date of manufacture in the last two years between 1916 and 1917.  This round-butt, I-frame SA/DA revolver features a 5-screw frame, a gloss blue factory finish, a 3.25" inch round pinned barrel, fixed sights, a color case-hardened hammer and trigger, a 6-shot fluted cylinder, a two-piece extractor rod, and checkered black hard rubber grips with the S&W logo molded into the top edge.  This little revolver is all-original and matching except for the grips, which are originals and fit perfectly but numbered to another gun.  The original gloss blue finish is spectacular, rating 98% plus, with the only deductions coming from a very faint drag line around the cylinder, a touch of high edge wear in some spots, and a little finish wear on the ejector rod.  As you can see from the pictures, none of these deductions stand out or detract any appreciable amount from the near pristine look of the gun.  The bore in the S&W is mirror-bright and pristine with zero pitting or imperfections visible.  The six chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and bright.  The original but non-matching grips are in beautiful shape and free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or visible wear.  The checkering is crisp and clean on both sides, the S&W logos are perfect, and both grips fit the grip frame perfectly with no wiggle.  The action on this Smith is smooth and "in time".  The action locks up tight at full lock with and no wiggle and we have no doub that it would still function just as reliably now as the day it left the factory 103 years ago.  If you have been looking for a extremely nice example of Smith & Wesson's first swing-out cylinder revolver for your collection, this .32 Hand Ejector Model of 1903 5th Change would be a great choice.  This revolver exhibits the extreme attention to detail and fit and finish that these early Smith & Wesson revolvers are known for, and would make an excellent display piece in any S&W collection.
