Description:
1881 Marlin rifle in .38-55. 1 of 277 produced with 26" barrel. Produced in 1887. Barrel and tube have 98% original blue. Frame has probably 80% original blue. Forend cap, buttplate, and lever have some muted casecolors. The beautifully grained walnut stocks have most all of it's original varnish remaining. There are some very small handling marks in the wood, nothing to detract or worry about, just being honest in description. Bore is excellent, not mint. The frame on this rifle is the light frame of the 3 different frames produced by Marlin. This is a beautiful rifle seldom seen in this high original condition. Action is fine.
