Description:
This is a really nice, sporterized Short Magazine Lee-Enfield Rifle No.1 Mk.3* manufactured by Enfield in 1918 and chambered for the .303 British cartridge. The No.1 Mk.3 was first manufactured just before World War 1 as an updated weapon from the Lee-Metford series of rifles. A "*" indicates it is the wartime simplified pattern with the volley sights and the magazine cut-off removed for ease of production. This rifle was reconditioned for World War 2 in 1943 and given a new stock set. The stock set has been sporterized with the forend cut down; but is in excellent condition overall, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage. All of the factory and arsenal markings are crisp and clean; and all of the numbered parts are matching including the receiver, barrel, bolt and rear sight. The bore is excellent, bright and clean with sharp rifling visible throughout the barrel. The action on this Enfield is slick and precise, and the bolt turns into battery perfectly without any grit or slop. All of the controls on this No.1 Mk.3* are in perfect working order, and the rifle should function 100% like the day it left the factory in 1918. This Lee-Enfield has not had the barrel cut or any other parts modified. Which makes this rifle an excellent candidate for putting back into military spec or just a solid rifle to take to the range.
