Description:
The Spanish Destroyer is bolt action carbine chambered for the 9x23mm Bergmann cartridge. First manufactured in Eibar, Spain by Gaztanaga y Compania, then by Ayra Duria S.A. and possibly others, with some minor improvements made over time. It was used by Spanish Civil Guard from the mid-1930s until the late 1960s, replacing the "El Tigre" Rifle. The Destroyer features a bolt with two rear-mounted locking lugs and a Mauser-style two-position flip safety. It fires the same ammunition as the standard-issue police handgun used at the time, but used a 5-shot single stack detachable magazine and a longer barrel which resulted in greater muzzle velocity, accuracy, and range. This Destroyer Carbine is in fair shape as it shows use and wear from time, but is in excellent machanical condition. The bore has sharp rifling throughout and the bolt locks up tight. The safety functions as intended. The stock shows typical use, but shows no major damage or any repairs. The receiver and bolt are matching. All stamps and cartouches are sharp and visible. This is an excellent pistol carbine for a collection and would be a perfect example for taking to the range.
