Description:
Merkel 360EL .410 bore SxS shotgun. Made in late 2003 this quick handling little .410 has had a pampered life, apparently spending most of its time neatly packed away in its maker’s luggage case! It has 28” barrels with 3” chambers that are choked ½ and 1 which is Mod and Full. In this case the Mod measured a very tight .020” and I could get my choke gauge in the Full choke tube. By measuring the muzzle ID’s I extrapolate that the Full choke is about .036”..or in other words the chokes are XF & XXXF!!
The gorgeous Prince of Wales gripped butt stock has a measured LOP of 13 ¾” which sounds short but notice the position of the single trigger. If that trigger was replaced with double triggers the LOP would measure 14 3/8” – 14 ½”. There is a 1 ½” DAC and a 2 5/8” DAH with a neutral to very light cast off. The gun mounts and points perfectly.
The frame is coin finished with Merkel hand engraved scenes of Woodcock on the left side and rabbits on the right; tasteful and appropriate for a .410 bore gun.
The blued parts: the barrels, trigger guard, top lever and safety buttton are as pristine as new. The coin finished receiver is 99%. The stock is perfect save for the light handling marks on the left side of the stock presumably from the jacker or vest of a right hand shooter..call the finish 97%+.
Beautiful little gun that weighs 5 lbs. 13 oz. and is delightful between the hands.
Maker’s case. Single non-selective trigger, automatic ejectors, auto safety, single front/brass bead on the raised, but swamped solid rib.
