Description:
Sold !

This Remington - US Remington Model 03 - A3  was mfg abt 10/42. Serial No. 4006XXX .It has a type 8 "S" stock. Remington was allowed to mfg two types
of stocks in 1942. Also I use various publicatons for my info and  info from other collectors. Every attempt is made to be as accurate as possible.
Descriptions & details;
This one shows the correct inspector's marks ahead of the trigger plate, there are four (See pic). This one also has the slight bolt cut under the bolt handle.
It also has the circled "P" to the rear and on the underbody of the trigger guard and it also has the milled  recess for the handguard retaining ring, There are no
finger grooves. It also has two stock screw and nuts for the required reinforcement. The handguard is the Type "9" second variation. The lower Barrel Band is a Type "5" w/a T-2 Screw & a stamped sling swivel. The upper Barrel Band was T2 and was combined w/a Bayonet  Lug Band. (There are many variations of this application
and some to me are a little confusing). There is Cartouche of  "F.J.A." boxed preceeded by the embossed cross cannons on the R-Side of the stock w. The stock
appears to me to be NOS or original, it is exceptional.
This Remington M1902A3 came from the estate of an avid collector. There were several both original and refurbished, all in excellent condition,
The gun metal is excellent also but appears to be refurbished. There are no scratches or blemishes. The action is as new and the barrel bore is a mirror w/excellent
rifling. I cannot see any arsenal refurbishing marks.
This Rem M1903A3 has all of the correct parts for the period .The parts inventory is as follows. I use the book "The M1903 Spg & It's Variations:
Butt Plate -T8 w/checkered 16 lines per inch, Stock - T8 "S",  Hanguard - T9 v/variations, Barrel - M1903A3 24 inch by CBI 1903A3 04/12 (Appears original- unsure)
but in excellent condition), Front Sight T2 (Base letter "R", Blade "C", Receiver - Mag Cuttoff - T5 by Remington, Ejector - T3 by Rem., Receiver Markings - U.S. Rem.
Model 1903 4006XXX (10/43), Bolt - T9 Bent w/letter "R" underneath w/the letters "B.P." the cocking piece, Safety Lock - Marked "safe (Top) "safe" reverse side, Rear
Sight - M1903A3 Aperature (Joint effort between Rem, & US Ordnance Dept.), Front Sight - T4 Letters "R' on the base & "C" on the Blade, Trigger Assembly - Stamped Hsg, Follower T4, Spring - T8 Sear, Trigger - T8, Trigger Guard & Plate T7, LowerBarrel Band T5, Upper Band T2 combined w/Bayonet Lug. Muzzle reading is "0 -1 it
appears unfired.
This Remington to me is an excellent choice for both an entry level collector and a shooter category. I would rate this an an excellent refurbished firearm.
