Remington & Sons, Ilion, N.Y., based on the Fordyce Beals patent of September 14, 1858. They are inaccurately referred to as the Remington Model 1858 due to the patent marking on the barrel, "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW MODEL." although wide scale production did not start until 1861. The Beals Navy revolver is slightly smaller framed than the Army and in .36 caliber with a 7.5 inch barrel length. This example is in fair condition with approximately half the bluing remaining. The revolver functions with a loose lockup and an intermittent operating hand. This classic was favored over the Colt designs of the time and would make a wonderful piece to any collection.
