Description:
Joseph Needham English 16 gauge s x s hammer shotgun. 28 inch seamless sleeved barrels with 2 1/2 inch chamber with extractors completed and reproofed in the Birmingham proof house 900 BAR for both action and barrels. (refer to reproof marks stamped on barrel flats) Right barrel choke .657 left barrel choke .648, LOP 14 1/8", DAC 1 5/8", DAH 2 3/8" with 3/16 cast off weight 5.13 lbs. Manufacture date is believed to be pre 1898.  The Birmingham proof house has been in use since 1856 and under the new 1954 proof house rules, the nitro- proof mark shows a CROWN over the letters BNP, for both action and barrels. This is clean and light hammer gun that has had minimal use and is in very good condition with a minimal of handling marks, it is light and quick handling shoots and patterns very well.
