Description: NSN, .58 RF, 38" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has light-moderate freckling near the muzzle. This is a Parker, Snow & Co.-made musket that has an overall dark brown patina with some light, pinprick pitting at the breech, and on the conversion breechblock. The breech mechanism is fully functional, including the rather fragile extractor system. The walnut stock has some chipping and surface damage where it was relieved for the conversion, and numerous small handling marks and blemishes on the balance. The cartouche is no longer visible on the left side, but a scratched owner’s name is still legible: “H.M. Wood". This is a hard-to-find cartridge conversion of a Civil War musket, and rates very good overall.
