Designed by John Browning, Introduced as the Model 8, Model 81 has removable Mag, and some Internal Changes, but looks the Same. The 81 was introduced in 1940, and Made until 1950, 140,000 of Both models were made, and the 300 Savage was only made the last 10 years. SN#35233, MFG: 1950, The last year the Model 81 was Made.
