Description:
Barrel set #1: 20 gauge, 28″, 3″ chambers. Chokes are marked IC/MOD and measure .006 right and .011 left. Barrel set #2: 28 Gauge, 26”, 2 3/4” chambers. Chokes are marked IC/MOD and measure .002 right and .004 left. Square post vent ribs on both sets with silver mid and white front beads, marked “CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER FOR JOHN J. HAYES”. There are 2 1/2″ engraving wedges of medium scrollwork at breech ends. Both sets have engine turned flats. All bores are bright and shiny. Flat sided action featuring engine turned water table and breech face, gold-plated single selective trigger, is engraved in “21-6” style pattern with medium scrollwork and gold inlaid bird dogs on sides of action; a setter on left, and a pointer on right. Appended metal is scroll engraved to match. Trigger plate portrays a pair of pheasants in gold. Trigger guard bow has right side portrait of a pointer in gold. Automatic ejectors, non-automatic safety. Pistol grip stock is checkered in “21-B” style with Fleur-di-lis and ribbons through pattern and has a 13 7/8” length of pull over an original vented recoil pad. A gold oval with the initials JJH is in the toe line. Matching beavertail forearms with black wood inset tips and engine turned internals are also checkered in “21-B” style pattern. Forearms and irons are numbered to the barrels. Condition: Near new showing only the lightest signs of use. Drop at comb: 1 3/4”. Drop at heel: 2 1/2”. Weight: 6.9 lbs. Mechanics are excellent. Case has burgundy felt liner and leather reinforced corners. It is marked “MADE IN ENGLAND” and is in overall very good + condition with some handling marks and light interior wear.
