Description:
Original SHARPS carbine. This is a genuine Civil War percussion carbine altered to 50-70 metallic cartridge right after the Civil War. Overall fine condition and all original. NEW MODEL 1863 on barrel. Nice bore. Lock mechanics fine. C SHARPS PAT OCT 5th 1852 on lock. W S LAWRENCE PAT APRIL 12TH 1859 also on lock. Metal parts not pitted, have smooth age patina. Oil finished walnut stocks. Correct folding rear sight.
Serial number identifies this carbine was issued to Samuel Butler during the Civil War. He was in Company B 10th Illinois Cavalry. File of historical information comes with this carbine.
Wonderful piece of American history. Carbine served in the Civil War and later in the Indian Wars. Not warranted safe to shoot as it is sold as an antique.
