Listing a Winchester 1885 Hi Wall in 38/40 caliber that I've shot a lot over the years , favorite caliber of mine. This rifle designed by John Browning his first for the giant Winchester repeating Arms company was built up until I think 1919. This particular rifle serial number 15,206 was Mfg'd in 1887. no nickel steel marked on the barrel but strong enough to shoot modern smokeless Ammo , I never did but heard and seen people do it .i always hand loaded and lightened things up a bit. I generally shoot at 80 yards with the open original sights, very accurate rifle. Wood is good , normal wear for a 133 year old rifle ,has a small hair line crack on left side , just ahead of the comb .I tried to show it, could be repaired but no movement , but still a small crack. Nice grain in the stock. Metal has aged to a nice Patina and some silver on receiver. Cresent butt plate, action function like it should and a good bore and rifling for an old gal. It's an antique so can ship to your door.dont have a letter but had it verified thru the museum Would figure $45.00 shipped & insured to the lower 48 ,three days to check her over money refunded less shipping if you've changed your mind , returned at your expense.
