Description:
Up for your consideration is the rare opportunity to buy a very nice condition 1923 made 1894 Winchester in the most desirable caliber (38-55). This carbine has beautiful wood with no cracks or ugly dings, there are a few small pressure marks seen with close inspection. It's the best wood I've seen on a Winchester carbine this old. The receiver and tangs retain strong 75% plus original blue. Loading gate side retains most blue while bottom of receiver and saddle ring side show honest carry wear giving the carbine an honest taken care of look. Carbines of this vintage are known for the blue easily flaking so it is clear this one was lightly used or well treated. The barrel and magazine tube retain almost all blue with the only exceptions being small nicks and scratches as expected for an almost 100 year old gun. Both rear and front sights are original to the carbine. The rear sight is the correct ladder style carbine sight and feels nice and tight as it would on a newer gun. The bore is excellent. Action is strong and locks up with no looseness. The lever and hammer have some small traces of case hardening in more protected areas.
