Mid-19th Century Single Shot Self-Defense Pistol
Here we present an antique Blunt & Syms Sidehammer Belt Pistol, manufactured circa the 1830s through the 1850s in New York, New York. This is one of the most recognizable American pistols of the pre-Civil War period. Many pistols like this saw service as person weapons in the Civil War as well as in the gold fields of California and on the western frontier.
The overall condition is good. The action functions, but the trigger return spring is weak. The bore is fair. The grips are in great shape and remain solid. The top of the barrel reads “B & S/NEW YORK/CAST STEEL”. Here is a very nice Blunt & Syms pistol to collect!
