Description:
Marlin Model 1889 Rifle fitted with a 24 inch full octagon barrel, full length tube magazine, blade front sight, long style rear rifle sight adjustable for elevation, walnut forearm and straight grip stock fitted with a steel crescent butt-plate, blue/color case-hardened finshed, and chambered in .38 Winchester (.38/40). The rifle is in very good condition, with the barrel retaining about 85% of its blue finish and the tube magazine about 75%, with the rest turning a brown patina. The frame and butt-plate have lost all of their original finishes, having turned a brown/grey patina, and the lever and hammer retain traces of their original color case-hardened finishes. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, though there is some frostiness in the lands along side the grooves. The action is tight and functions perfectly. The forearm appears to retain most all of its origina finish, with assorted minor handling marks. The stock has been refinished and has a repair at the wrist.
