Here is another nice old original 1873 Winchester First Model Carbine. First models ran through just over the 30k mark and only about a third of these guns were carbines. Finding a first model carbine in any type of decent condition is a rarity. Here is an opportunity at a good one. This carbine serial number 16,411 Works great and has a shootable (7/10) bore with uniformed rifling and even light frosting. The carbine retains it's original carbine stock showing some bumps and bruises from its many years. No cracks or looseness. The fit at tang and receiver is excellent while there is some shrinking at the butt plate. Butt plate is original and has the trapdoor and it is in good working condition. The saddle ring is present and correct. This carbine has the correct Henry style mag tube, screw in lever lock and the thumbprint dust cover. This carbine retains the original early mode rear sight and the correct one piece barrel band/front sight. Many of these parts will be missing from carbines that come up for sale. This one has them all! Gun seems as if it should make a great shooter although being an antique we always suggest review by a qualified gunsmith. I have another first model carbine in a little higher condition as well! Please see my other ads.
