Description:
This is a spectacular all-original Smith & Wesson Model 36 "Chief's Special" .38 Special revolver with the original box, sealed factory tool kit, and all the paperwork it originally shipped with. This Model 36 appears to have had a handful of cartridges fired thru it at the VERY most since leaving the factory, as it remains in 98 to 99% like-new condition. This J-frame round-butt double-action revolver was manufactured in 1981, the last year for the sought-after pinned barrel. It features a gloss blue factory finish, a 5-shot fluted cylinder, a 2" inch pinned barrel with fixed iron sights, and factory checkered Walnut grips with gold-finished S&W medallions in each side. The factory blue finish on this gun is beautiful and bright, with the only deductions coming from an extremely faint drag-line around the cylinder and a very light and tiny little scratch on the left side of the frame ahead of the trigger. You have to be inspecting the gun very closely and hold it at a certain angle to see the aforementioned scratch. The factory case colors on the hammer and trigger are bright and clean, rating 99% with no visible wear or deterioration. The bore in this Chief's Special is mirror-bright and minty with no visible imperfections and perfect rifling. The 5 chambers in the cylinder are equally as clean and pristine. The original grips on this gun are in like-new condition, free from any wear, handling marks, chips, cracks, or repairs. Both grips are perfectly fit to the gun, a perfect match to each other, and tight to the frame with no wiggle. The action on this Smith is like-new and smooth. It is perfectly "in time" and locks up tight. All of the controls on this revolver are in perfect working order and we have no doubt it will function 100% like the day it left the factory 39 years ago. As mentioned before, this Model 36 comes complete with everything it left the factory with. The original serial-numbered matching box is in excellent condition and has both factory end labels intact. Inside the box is the original tool kit still sealed in the factory bag, the owner's manual, the warranty card (not filled out), the warranty center list, the S&W ammo pamphlet, the S&W holster pamphlet, and the anti-rust shipping paper. If you have been looking for an exceptional investment-quality Chief's Special for your S&W collection this Model 36 would be an excellent choice. It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this minty and complete example.
