Description:
This is a Browning BSS Sporter, 20 gauge, built in 1977 with a straight english stock, hand rubbed oil finish, 28” barrels, auto ejectors, 3” chambers, fixed chokes at Mod/Full constriction. This has a mechanical, single selective trigger with the selector at the rear of the trigger, inside the trigger guard. The action and barrels show 98+% original finish, starting to turn plum in certain areas. The buttstock has a 14 1/2" length of pull over a 1/2” red rubber Galazan buttpad. DAC = 1 1/2”, DAH = 2 1/2”. The bores are bright and in excellent, as new condition. The gun is stocked with a semi-beaver tail forearm. It comes with a full beaver tail forearm as well. As per the photos, please note the installation of a brass insert, an escutcheon, with screw to aid in securing the semi-beavertail forearm to the barrel. The two forearms differ in size/fit so rather than alter the forearm iron I had my Smitty add this device so both forearms can be interchanged as desired. I was never able to source a second forearm iron. The semi-beavertail would work itself loose from the gun with recoil from hotter hunting loads. The full-beavertail forearm does not require this alteration. It’s a lovely gun for any upland game use at 7.2lbs, with years and years of life left. This gun is Japanese made by the Miroku group, assembled in Korea with Japanese components. Shipping to lower 48 is $50 flat rate ground. Your dealer must be able to accept from a non FFL holder.
