This is a very clean Mitchell's Mauser-reworked 42-code K98 made in 1939 at Mauser Oberndorf with a Kriegsmarine property-marked stock. It comes with a Yugo 44 Mauser bayonet and leather frog that will fit on the rifle and the original Mitchell's Mauser certificate. This K98 would be perfect for someone wanting a representative piece that they can also enjoy at the range without worrying about collector value. Mitchell's Mausers would start with a likely Russian-capture WW2 German K98 with a good bore, refinish all of the metal and polish the bolt bright, renumber the bolt, floorplate, and triggerguard to match the receiver, strip and sand the stock (removing the Russian-applied shellac), number the stock to the gun, and check the headspace and test-fire the gun to make sure it will shoot reliably and accurately. The end result is a clean-looking K98 that can be shot with confidence. As mentioned earlier, this particular example is neat in that the bolt take-down disc is property marked to the German Kriegsmarine (Navy), stamped "O.20214". The "O" stands for "Naval Group Command Ost (East)" and 20214 is the weapon number. The condition of this K98 is very good as-restored with little to no visible finish wear, and the rifle is in perfect working order. If you have been looking for an affordable WW2-production K98 that you can shoot that is much better looking than a typical Russian-capture, this Kriegsmarine 42-code Mauser would be a great choice.
