Description:
Beautiful Colt Bisley Single Action revolver in .38/40 is serial number 218462 and matches on the frame, triggerguard and backstrap. Comes with a Colt Archive letter, that is a little tattered and folded, which verifies it as a .38/40 caliber, 4 3/4" barrel with blue finish and stocks not listed which is an indication of standard rubber stocks. It was sold to and shipped to Hardwicke-Etter Company In Sherman, Texas on December 5, 1901 in a shipment of 5 guns. The purchase was made through Simmons Hardware of St. Louis who was the largest distributor of Colts during this time period. Guns that were purchased through Simmons were shipped directly to the small, local hardware stores. Hardwicke was a former partner in the well known Roberts, Sanford & Taylor company of Sherman and by this time had become a competitor. All factory applied markings are sharp and clear. The action functions flawlessly and lock up is tight. The bore is excellent. The finish is great with strong blue and vivid case colors on most surfaces. There are a few minor spots of oxidation. The original rubber grips fit perfectly and are numbered to the gun. There is a SS number under the grips. The front face of the cylinder is smooth and clean as though the gun as has been fired very little. Price includes insurance and shipping to your FFL dealer in the continental United States where legal. A three day inspection is offered with full refund if returned unfired in the same condition.
