Description:
An authentic. matched pair of French Pauly pistols. These are breech loading cartridge pistols. They were made on an 1812 patent by Jean Samuel Pauly, who died in 1822. It was a very important development in firearms history. The pistols use a breech loading self contained reloadable centerfire metalic cartridge. They have swamped and rifled barrels. The stocks are figured walnut with iron butt caps. They were formally in the J.M. Davis Museum collection of Claremore, Oklahoma. These pistols are so close in condition we have to assume they have always been together, and they have consective museum tag numbers, which would indicate they came to the museum as a pair.
Caliber is 17.5 mm
Overall Length 14.75"
Condition- Both are an even dark age patina with overall light pitting and appear to have never been cleaned. Stocks are very good retaining most of their original finish with some light dings. Actions operate perfectly and bores are excellent.
