This is a near new DU Special engraved by Daniel Smith of Bozeman Montana for a 1989 DU project. The Ruger Red Label is a robust, affordable American made over/under that is a great, versatile waterfowl, upland, and clay target gun. With rock solid mechanics, strong as a tank receiver and barrels, screw in chokes, and nicely checkered walnut stocks, it has been the best buy in the American over/under market since its inception. This Ducks Unlimited special is a very low production gun with nicely upgraded fancy figured walnut stocks, custom hard case, 5 screw in chokes, and of course the subtle but elegant engraving that includes 2 large genuine gold inlaid snow geese on the receiver sides. Daniel Smith is an internationally renowned wildlife artist who makes his home in Bozeman Montana. His work is valuable art, and he has signed this gun. I have seen other DU special guns, but this is the most classy, professional engraving I have witnessed. Serial number 4 was built in 1988 with 28" barrels and chokes that range from Skeet to Modified. The wood and checkering are in near new condition so this gun was not fired much. With the 3" chambers and 8 1/4lbs. weight, this is a classic waterfowler and heavy pheasant gun for those days when the birds are all flushing wild or you are the "blocker".
