Description:
An antique Colt 1861 Navy revolver. This model has a creeping style loading lever like an 1860 model. It has a 6 shot cylinder. It was made during the Civil War in 1863 and is a civillian gun but quite possibly used by a soldier as many bought guns on the civillian market. The top of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA". All of the serial numbers match including the wedge and cylinder arbor. The original grips are walnut.
Condition Iron parts have been cleaned and are now a gray color with some scattered pitting. The brass backstrap and triggerguard have a medium mustard color patina. The cylinder scene is nearly complete. The wedge screw is a replacement. The grips fit perfectly and retain a high percentage of their original varnish with some nicks and wear. The bore has some roughness and the action is crisp and tight.
