MEXICAN WAR H. ASTON U.S. MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION HOLSTER PISTOL DATED 1847. Smoothbore .54 cal. 8 ½” barrel with Ordnance inspector’s stamp and proof at the breech (S.K./P). Lock plate stamped “U.S./H. ASTON” and “MIDDTN/CONN/1847”. Original with the exception of the modern blued finish on the metal. Stock has also been refinished but the “WAT” cartouche on the side panel is still partially visible. Good markings. And lock in working order. Hammer with chip out of the lip. Good looking and otherwise original with desirable 1847 Mexican War date.
